Terrorists, terrorists everywhere!

Damn. I spend one day drinking and not watching over the world, and now Moslems are loving each other to death, Maoists attack phone towers and "secular terrorists" (aka regular thugs) are threatening to blow up French railways.

Death count in yesterday's bombings in Baghdad and Karbala is at 117 now. Iraqi authorities suspect a Jordanian guy named Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Everyone else is blaming Americans as usual for failure to provide sufficient security. They might even be right, or maybe not, I don't know.

CNN says: "The top U.S. civilian administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, said the attacks sought "to provoke sectarian violence among Muslims." " Hold on, I thought that the attacks were sectarian violence.

In Pakistan a group of terrorists, apparently Sunnies, have also celebrated the Shiites' holiest day by shooting into the crowd of worshippers. Killed 46. Can't even blame it on Americans, although will probably find a way anyway. Shiites returned the brotherly love prompty, burning down a Sunni mosque, a tv network office and several shops.

Note, BTW, that Iraqi Shiites did not burn anything in retaliation yet, which is a nice surprise.

Maoist terrorists in Nepal attacked a telephone tower and killed 21 people. I sincerely hope that all Maoist terrorists follow Mao to the place where he is right now as soon as possible, and Nepalese authorities have been helping them to get there.

In France a group calling itself AZF and "secular terrorists" is threatening to blow up trains unless paid 4 million euros. Which, I think, does not make then terrorists but common thugs. Although I am not quite sure how their actions are different fron Abu Sayyaf, who also usually ask for money even though they claim it's all for the glory of Allah. Don't know how much money they really spend on Allah.

It's interesting to watch how the word "terrorist" is more and more used in regular conversation and various emotional publications to mean everything but the actual terrorists (from countries waging war to people who annoy their neighbors with loud music), and at the same time the word disappears from the regular news for all intents and purposes. CNN seems to use the word only when quoting somebody; otherwise the terrorists are bombers, gunmen, rebels, insurgents, etc.
