Introducing friends to each other

Last night I introduced Anu and Tanya to each other. I am usually a bit apprehensive when introducing friends from different circles to each other, but they liked each other well enough. Had a lovely evening but got fairly drunk, which is usually OK but not when have Krav Maga test in the morning.

They have spent some time arguing about Russian accents. IMO both Tanya and I have accents that are atypical but still recognizable as Russian, at least to many people. Finns tend to recognize Russian accent better than Americans in general, regardless of whether they live in a place with a lot of Russians or not. I had a hunch that it has to do with vowel length: Russians do something weird to it and Finns hear that weirdness better than English-speaking people.
