HS says that somebody blew up Stalin's monument in the Ukraine, in the city of Zaporozhye. My first thought was "no shit". The second thought was "what the hell was the monument doing there anyway?".
For those who don't know, Stalin has murdered millions of Ukranians.
They really should get rid of all the monuments of genocidal maniacs from the USSR time, I thought, and then read that the monument was put up last May.
WTF, really? Was it there waiting for Hitler, Che Guevara and Pol Pot, as a friend of mine suggested? Or just to scare children? Who put the damn thing up? I wanted to see the person.
Quick googling found, among other things, that the leader of Ukraine's Communist party considers Stalin to be the greatest politician of modern times. Some more quick googling found that it was Zaporozhye's Communist party committee that put the monument there in the first place.

How they got permit to put that monument up at first place?
Zaporozhye's Communist party committee would be more proper object for new year bags.
Unless proper composition of bag is still under development.

Stalin put the name of KNVD head Berija on execution list. He got the list. Stalin got varfarin. (rat poision)
Doctors knowing they were next on line to the wall did not want to interfere, and more importantly Berija in good health did not want them to, so everyone just waited Stalin to die.
Luckily Hrutsec took power and put end to stalinism. However not before having Berija was arrested, shot and condemned to death. (the oder is being debated.)
Stalin was not the 1st dictator for not understanding the bravery generally caused by seeing one's own name of execution list.
Roman emperor Caracala put the name on execution list and the owner of the name saw his on the list. Caracala got knife in the back while peeing in the bushes. The killer also did not live long afterwards.

The city of Zaporozhye in Ukraine is not the only place in the world with controversial commemorations to mustachioed mass murderer Josef Stalin. The small town of Bedford, Va., is also the home of one of the world's few public memorial busts of communist dictator Josef Stalin.
Local citizens and organizations have expressed their outrage over the installation of the bust. Why?
The United States and the Soviet Union were allies during World War II.
